MCEC School 2020
The organization looks back on an inspiring three days and would like to thank all students, members and (guest) speakers for making this online MCEC School a success!
You can read a small recap of the event on the MCEC website.
MCEC Members
In the second phase of MCEC, we have welcomed many new members.
In this rubric we will introduce them to you. Today: Assistant professor in the Physics of Fluids group at the University of Twente: Sander Huisman.
MCEC Focus Session @ CHAINS 2020 (online)
Date: 9 December 2020
Time: 14:15 – 15:35 CET
Plastic: chicken or egg of the waste cycle, that’s the topic Florian Meirer (chair, UU), Jaap den Doelder (TU/e), Ina Vollmer (UU) and Lonneke Slenders (Ioniqa) will discuss during the MCEC Focus Session at CHAINS 2020.
We asked Ina Vollmer about her views on the matter.
Please register before November 27 via the CHAINS website.
Operando Characterisation of Catalysts at Work
MCEC Members Bert Weckhuysen, Florian Meirer and Ward van der Stam, will host an online conference on December 17 and 18 about ‘Operando Characterisation of Catalysts at Work’.
In this conference, the progress of operando spectroscopy and microscopy in the fields of thermo-, electro- and photocatalysis will be discussed by several experts.
Check out the event and register here.
SUNERGY Online Workshop
On 26 November 2020, 14:00h, SUNERGY will organize an online workshop.
Participants from academia, industry, government and NGOs will discuss fossil-free fuels and chemicals, learn how SUNERGY operates in Europe and discuss how SUNERGY can strengthen developments in the Netherlands.
MCEC Promotions
On October 30, Katarina Stanciakova (UU) obtained her PhD degree from Utrecht University. She has worked on the modelling of water-active site interactions in zeolites, which is of great importance in e.g. biomass valorisation.
On 16 September, Anne-Eva Nieuwelink (UU) successfully defended her Ph.D. in a first Joint Doctorate degree with Utrecht University and University of Twente. You can read more about the fine marriage between microreactor technology and catalysis on the UU website.
Wednesday 25 November 2020, Chris Kennedy (UU) will defend his thesis, titled: Synthesis, microscopy and manipulation of colloidal matter. Good luck Chris!
